Interview With Katie Leigh!
(Posted: May 5th, 2017)
I recently had the pleasure of conducting an interview with Katie Leigh, the voice of Connie Kendall! Katie is such as sweet person and she was very easy to talk to. I hope you guys enjoy it! (Also, spoiler warning, we discussed Album 62)
Q: As an Adventures in Odyssey actress, do you have a favorite fan story?
A: About ten years ago, we had a live Adventures in Odyssey show in Colorado, the founder of the Town of Odyssey website met his wife! They are now married, are missionaries, and have a child!
Q: What was your favorite episode to record in the last few albums?
A: I really enjoyed recording an unaired episode about Connie trying to save Jules from having to go through the same difficulties Connie had to go through concerning her tough family life. I liked it because parts of the story reflected Connie’s life as well as my own.
Q: In Album 62, we found out that Tom had died, did you find out while recording the episode or did you know before that?
A: No! We didn’t! (Nobody tells us anything!J) We found out about a week before, when they sent us the script.
Q: If you could change one thing about the writer’s direction of the show or add something to the show, what would that be?
A: I’d like Connie to open a bed and breakfast or a homegroup Bible study in her house!
Q: What about goals for Connie’s future, are there any careers you’d like to see Connie flourish in? (Counseling perhaps?)
A: I want Connie to run the Timothy Center for Tom! Maybe she could get her old job back now that Tom’s sister runs it. Or Connie, Eugene, and Katrina could run a home for foster kids on the land!
Q: How do you feel about Jules moving in with Connie?
A: It’s a trip! But it’s good! It gives Connie more to do on the show!
Q: How do you feel about Eugene becoming a father and the whole dynamic of Buck moving in with them?
A: I don’t get it… I think it’s weird. It’s given the Meltsners more things to do. It’s a bit strange to make the Meltsners become foster parents, it makes them a family like the Parkers!
Q: It seems like Connie is fervently vouching for Buck to be adopted. Do you think that should happen?
A: Why not? He’s older than most foster kids but I guess that’s all right. Maybe Eugene could help him through collage. He could attend Cambel County Community College. Maybe Buck will join the military or become a pastor!
Q: In Legacy, it seems like a relationship is blossoming between Buck and Jules, what do you think of that?
A: It does seem like that doesn’t it! I’m keeping my eye on him…
Q: Are there any storylines you’d like to see happen now that Penny and Wooton are married?
A: I’d like to see them decorate their house! Or to see what normal, everyday life is like now that they’re married.
Q: Do you have any advice to give to kids who want to peruse voice acting as a career?
A: Practice reading out loud and listen to what’s going on in the world, focus on learning correct vocabulary and pronunciation. Because we do things on the fly as voice actors. That would be my advice!
(Thanks again for doing this Katie! Keep being wonderful! God Bless!)
